The HT74173 is suitable for portable products which include massagers, toys, laser projectors etc. The device can operate with an input voltage range of 2.5V~6V and is thus suitable for use in products powered by 3 to 4 cell dry batteries or a single Li-battery. With an output current of up to 3A, the device can provide a stable output voltage for driving high current load applications such as a low voltage DC motors or a laser diode.
In order to extend the end product endurance, the HT74173 has a 100% duty cycle operation feature. If the battery voltage should become lower than the target output voltage, the output voltage will then track the input voltage. As the HT74173 has a current consumption of only 50μA under no load conditions, this will result in extended battery life. Available in 8-pin SOP-EP, 5-pin SOT23 and 5-pin SOT89 package types. The 5-pin SOT23 and 5-pin SOT89 packages are suitable for use in small portable products with space restrictions.
