The MP6616 is a single-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor driver with integrated power MOSFETs and a Hall-effect sensor. It operates from a 3.3V to 18V input voltage (VIN) range with 2A of continuous output current (IOUT). The MP6616’s low 100mΩ on resistance promotes high efficiency and excellent thermal performance. The device controls the motor speed with closed-loop or open-loop control via the pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal on the PWM pin. In addition, the MP6616 has a configurable soft commutation angle and Hall offset angle. The Hall offset angle can be flexibly optimized to achieve low-speed and high-speed performance in the full speed range. The device also features a speed detector (the FG/RD pin). Robust internal safety features include over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), locked rotor protection, over-current protection (OCP), and thermal shutdown. The MP6616 is available in a small QFN-10 (2mmx3mm) package. It is designed to drive BLDC motors such as computers or CPU fans, 1U and 2U server fans, and cooling fans.
