The recent escalation of the security situation in the Red Sea has disrupted one of the world's most important shipping routes via the Suez Canal.
As a consequence carriers are forced to re-route container vessels to travel via southern Africa and through the Cape of Good Hope (as shown in picture to the right).
While the exact implications of this action are still to be assessed, the transit time as well as the end-price of goods shipped from the Far East may be impacted.
